Board Meeting September 2021 – First Meeting and August Review

We are turning a new leaf at Stickers and That (for stickers and that). Over the past four years, we have grown bigger than we can ever have expected, we have now hit the point where we need to structure our business and create realistic goals and targets and really get down to providing the best products and services possible. 

Until now – We had been taking each week and month (and probably years) for granted, and just assume we have been doing well without having any set goals, targets, personal or business developments compare against. 

It’s time for that to change, we will be holding monthly board meetings to discuss all business matters and holding weekly team meetings to discuss plans for the week and any potential pain points for the team going forward. We will be publishing the keynotes from our board meetings and inviting you, our loyal customers, to comment and bring forward your opinions and thoughts on how we can improve as a business, and also add to our ever-growing product line and really help us grow as a business, and hopefully get a true insight to what’s going on in our business. 

Financials and Reports

August has been a successful and profitable month, but overall sees sales dropped by 13% compared to the previous month (July 2021), but up 23% compared to August 2020. Continuing the trend of growth year vs year, but also continuing the trend of August being one of our slowest months. 

The best selling product has been work mats, unfortunately compared to last month we have seen a decrease in sales of 13% and also a decrease on August 2020 of 11%. 

We continue to have a pile of unpaid invoices, that seems to be ever-growing and not decreasing. We have decided to set up our own Accounts Department to tackle this issue and ensure customers are paying in a timely manner for printed goods already received. Or simply make sure we are allocating payments properly and correctly. Target 1 (see below) to be reviewed in October’s board meeting 

Our biggest win of the month is the release of Tappio smart business cards, where we have sold multiple units to over 50 different businesses in the final two-thirds of a month. 

Team Targets and Personal Development 

We plan to sit down with the team and discuss targets and KPIs which will be set based on individual input and realistic turnaround times. 

Including: 

  • Response times on emails – general enquiries and also designs
  • Manufacturing times for each product
  • Dispatch times 

Discuss any pain points in a “Stand Up Meeting”. for our staff as a team to see if anything is needed to make their day to day lives easier.

Whilst it’s important to work well together as a team we understand that everyone is individual and not always comfortable discussing personal issues as a team. So we will be setting “One To One” dates for each individual member of staff, to ensure they’re happy within the workplace. 

We will also be holding weekly “Stand Up Meetings” first thing on a Monday to discuss the week going forward and make sure we’re all on the same page for the week ahead. 

Business Growth Moving Forward 

Over the past four years, we have started a business that started off as just an idea as a side project for a little extra cash, with no assets and no real end goals.

In this meeting, we have now set goals, including financial, product, procedure, and general goals all with deadlines which will be reviewed monthly in these meetings to make sure we’re on target and if we’re not find out why and resolve whatever issues there may be. 

This will give us something to work towards and make sure we’re on track with our targets, and really steer the Stickers and That ship in the right direction. Without targets and goals, it’s hard to judge if we have been successful or not. 

Something that we have implemented over July and August is we have signed up for public and private procurement, so we are now eligible to apply for contracts that are up for tender. Hopefully, this will open us up for some bigger contracts that we were unable to win before becoming a registered supplier for public sectors.

New Products and Releases 

Finally, the bit you’ve all been waiting for. 

If you’re reading this you’ve probably seen what we already do and what we’re about. We’re always looking into new machines, new developments, software and really changing the market and offering new products and trying our best to deliver unrivalled service.

We are pleased to announce that we have just purchased a new machine that will allow us to print full-colour lanyards – as soon as we have a launch date, we will let you know (subscribe to our newsletter or follow us on social media to stay up to date) (Target 2)

We realise we have a customer base that doesn’t always like to be digital, and it’s sometimes much easier to navigate a physical hard copy of a website. So we have and are working on releasing a brochure, that will showcase all of our/the majority of our popular products. This will be available to order FOR FREE from our website as soon as they are complete. We are in talks with a few national merchants and local shops to stock these as standard, which is exciting for all parties involved. (Target 3)

Target 1 – Half the balance on outstanding invoices 

Target 2 – Go live with lanyards before the end of September.

Target 3 – Brochure to be finished ready for print 11/09/2021
